PREREQUISITES

1 Diploma with Business discipline and with minimum 5 years experience in similar capacity in high volume manufacturing.

2 A certification by related professional organizations (such as APICS and NAPM), a bachelor’s degree in Materials Management, Business Administration, or an equivalent, or an experience in electronics manufacturing industry is a plus.

3 Strong communication and analytical skills. Demonstrate negotiation and problem solving abilities. Must be able, to provide leadership and direction without formal authority.

4 Occasional travel may be required.

5 Senior / Lead Buyer must have at least 2 years of purchasing experience in the manufacturing environment and demonstrated supervisory skills.

6 Good working knowledge of computerized MRP systems. Possess a strong leadership skill and good analytical skill.

7 Maintain a good working knowledge of Supply Chain Management, electronics industry, supply base, pricing process and strategies, as well as e-Commerce tools.

8 Communicate effectively and escalate issues appropriately.

9 Supplier delivery, quality, and service performance meets or exceeds SCM expectations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

1 Optimize overall cost of materials.

2 Manage materials that are Business Unit specific and/or strategic.

3 Support Materials Planners

4 Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

5 Senior Buyer responsibilities also include the following:

5.1 Provide hiring manager with input on the work cell’s purchasing staffing needs. Assist hiring manager by participating in recruiting and hiring activities.

5.2 Ensure that work cell’s purchasing staff is given proper training, tools, and resources to execute their job functions. Develop and facilitate work cell specific training.

5.3 Provide frequent and timely feedback and performance reviews that are quantitative and qualitative based on measurable objectives, general work attributes, and skills development. Recommend salary and job status changes based on performance.

5.4 Lead the work cell’s purchasing activities and assignments, such as monitoring performance metrics, quoting and price administration, materials sizing, and interaction with customers and suppliers
